Book Review: THOUGHTFUL by S.C. Stephens - Giveaway

Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: 24 February 2015

Every story has two sides, and in this new book, the epic love story between Kiera and Kellan is shown through his eyes.

All Kellan Kyle needs is his guitar, and some clean sheets of paper. Growing up in a house that was far from a home, he learned a hard lesson: You're worthless. Now his life is comfortably filled with passionate music, loyal band mates, and fast women...until he meets her.

Kiera makes him ache for more. Makes him feel for the first time that he's worth more. But there's one problem - she's his best friend's girl.

Just when Kellan thought his emotional defenses were rock solid, Kiera's indecisive heart wreaks havoc on his soul, changing him forever. Losing Kiera is not an option.

Two years ago exactly I read a book called Thoughtless that shook my world completely. That story was emotional, conflicting, and sometimes even trying yet it was one of the most captivating love stories I have ever read. One of the main reasons why I got to love that book so much was because it introduced me to a hero like no other. A hero that even with all his flaws and faults, he easily captured my heart with his own heart which was beautifully broken and filled with such vivid emotions that went beyond the pages of the book. That was Kellan Kyle to me then but now? Now after reading Thoughtful, his POV of Thoughtless, he has surpassed all my expectations and has given a total new meaning to the word emotional. Really, the way he narrates this love story was both so precious and torturous to me that he just blew me away yet again with his vulnerable heart. ♥

I never should have wanted something that wasn't mine.”

For those of you who are not familiar with this series, this story is quite angsty as it revolves around a love triangle. Kellan falls for a girl that he shouldn't want, a girl that is forbidden, yet that girl is the very first one in his life to ever make him feel loved. That girl's name is Kiera Allen and the reason why she's off limits to Kellan is simply because she's his best friend's girl. But knowing is not the same as feeling, so as much as Kellan wants to not think about Kiera that way he just can't help himself, he wants her more than anything. Moreover, it doesn't help that she's not indifferent to him either. In fact, she wants him around her just as much as he does and that's when temptation starts to slowly entangle them together.

I knew I was overstepping so many boundaries right now that it was ridiculous, but I couldn't help myself. Holding her—just holding her—felt better than anything I’d felt in a while.

Then Kiera and Kellan enter a complete turmoil of conflicting emotions where they both hurt each other while discovering how much they need one another in their lives. Their story is heart-wrenching to read but at the same time so compelling, beautiful, and truly addictive. I may have read Thoughtless and kind of knew what happens in Thoughtful but let me tell you, nothing prepared for the raw emotions, the charm, the pain, and all that vulnerability that Kellan transmits in this book. He was just amazing at both breaking my heart and taking my breath away with every chapter.

Whatever will make this easier for you. Whatever you want. So long as I get a part of you, no matter how small, I’ll be happy.”

Thoughtful wouldn't be the incredible POV story that it is if it wasn't for the way it was written. That's why I feel Ms. Stephens truly outdid herself once again with this book. In Thoughtful she shows Kellan's heart totally bare with no inhibitions whatsoever so I got to know him and understand him even deeper than I already did before. It was such an emotional experience to go along with him and re-live all those moments of heartbreak, hope, guilt, and love that captivated me so much the first time around. The only difference was that I felt those moment ten times harder because now it was my Kellan telling the story and not Kiera. Oh, and talking about the heroine of this story, I'm glad that this book came out after the other three in the series because otherwise, I think I wouldn't have understood her character as I do now and I might still hate her. Yes, I hated Kiera in Thoughtless and I remembered that hate again here with Thoughtful and there was nothing I could do about that. Her character is just very complex and she makes many mistakes that cause harm so it was difficult to sympathize with her. However, looking at the story overall, Kiera is the main point that drives the story so her actions, as reckless as they might have been, were exactly what Kellan needed to become the amazing and unforgettable character that he is now. So for that and for what she becomes later in the other books, I have to applaud Kiera. Also, I have to give it to her, at the end she makes Kellan truly happy and that's all that matters. :)

Being with her was amazing. She was amazing. I would take a lifetime of pain if I knew I’d get moments like this. This made it all worth it.

This book was breathtaking and I LOVED every minute of it even the times that broke me. Again, it was beautifully written and so insightful into Kellan's character that it almost felt like a brand new story. I never thought I would have Kellan back in my life again so reading this book was a complete treat for me. I got to reconnect not only with him but also with the other characters in the story I love so much and that was just wonderful. ♥

For fans of the series, I cannot recommend this book enough! You're going to fall in love with this incredible man all over again, I'm telling you. And for those of you who haven't met him yet, go and start with Thoughtless and let Kellan Kyle sweep you away with his very emotional and beautiful story. ;)

I don’t want to feel guilty about something that makes me feel so…whole.
