Blog Tour Review: FIRST DEBT by Pepper Winters - Giveaway

Genre: Dark Romance
Publication Date: November 14, 2014

“You say I’ll never own you. If I win—you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another—one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I’ll give you this.”

Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out.

She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it.

Jethro Hawk’s patience is running out. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him—and not in good ways. He hasn’t leashed her but he thinks he might’ve found a way to bind her forever.

Debts are mounting. Payment waiting.

REVIEW

5 FIERCE-MASTERFUL SEDUCTRESS STARS!

This book was everything I hoped for and more! After reading Debt Inheritance and getting lost in the twisted yet addictive story of Nila and Jethro, I was still left wanting a stronger connection between the characters, something more that made me feel for them. Well, I'm so happy now because First Debt more than delivered on my wishes as it was a story filled with intense passion from beginning to end.

I have to start by saying that Nila completely stole the show in this book. Seriously, this woman was remarkable in every possible way. She just kept surprising me time after time with her ability to become this fierce-masterful seductress that I got to love and respect so much. Since book one, she's been trapped in this twisted debt that she inherited from her family and now she owns repayment and basically her life to the Hawks. Her circumstances are terrifying and inescapable but even then Nila is in no way ready to give in without a fight. She has a plan to manipulate her master, her captor, her debtee and then save herself from all the madness that involves this debt.

This wasn't about the chase. We all knew who would win. It was about defiance. The word that I never knew or put into practice until last night, but now I lived and breathed it. I would be the most defiant thorn, stabbing holes in Jethro’s carefully made plans.

What Nila didn't anticipate was that her plan would have the opposite effect. Every time time she's around Jethro she can't stop feeling the desire, the fire, and an ultimate need for him. She knows he feels it too, it's mutual but he's too good at pretending, or is he? That of itself is Nila's catalyst and motive to breakdown Jethro's walls and make him fall hard for her so she can save herself.

I will make him love me. My conviction wasn’t flimsy or half-hearted.
And then I’ll destroy him.

So now we have Jethro, a man that is used be as cold as ice. A man that has to follow rules and expectations that cannot be forgotten or there would be severe consequences. He's trying his hardest to be that man and not fail his family but Nila is not making it at all easy for him. In Debt Inheritance he was hardhearted and mostly control but I always felt there was so much more that meet the eye when it came to him and I was right. In this book I learned a lot about Jethro and now I really liked him. He's just as forced into the circumstances as Nila is and my heart felt for him in that regard. However, when Nila slowly cracks his armor I loved seeing him struggle, I know that sounds twisted but I did. Seeing this man fighting his true feelings was exhilarating and hot as hell because he didn't know how to handle it all. Moreover, that confusion in his head just puts him closer and closer to be the one that can turn this whole story around and I can't wait for that to happen!

I’d lived in the cold for so long, it’d become a part of who I was, yet all it’d taken was a silly little girl to burn cracks in my carefully designed control.”

This whole book was amazing. The impossible yet super intense sexual tension between Nila and Jethro was exquisite and I loved how the two of them kept trying to play mind games with the other without realizing that their own feelings were playing games with them instead. It was a constant battle of who was the strongest and the ultimate winner for them and I loved that no matter what they anticipated or prepared for, things always played out unexpectedly shocking them both.

I hated that whenever he touched me, I would rather kiss than kill him, rather than flat-out destroy him.

I hated, positively hated, that she’d stolen my power again. She’d drugged me with her witch potion, making me think only with my dick.

The twists in the story were incredible too. Just like the first book, I once again got those feelings of terror and suspense for the well-being of the characters that kept me so hooked to story that I never wanted it to end. When in fact the end came, I was surprised that I found it perfect. Yes, that was because it gave me the answers I was long waiting for plus it brought up even more questions that left me super intrigued and excited for the next book.

I LOVE this series! I can't wait for the next installment and find out more about Jethro's secrets and Nila's plans but mostly I can't wait to see how the whole story unfolds and how these two amazing characters are going to set themselves free. Omg, if this series continues like this, I'm sure each book is just going to get better and better! :)

Fuck, who was I kidding? She owned me. Her laughable rage, her stupid sense of fairness. Somehow, she’d ensorcelled me.

I’d lived in the cold for so long, it’d become a part of who I was, yet all it’d taken was a silly little girl to burn cracks in my carefully designed control.

“The moment when you fill me, you’ll see. That moment when you douse me in your cum, you’ll be completely in my power. I’ll own you. A Weaver owning a pet Hawk.”

Nila Weaver was the sun upon my ice, turning me into a river that wanted to flow and change and grow. Not freeze and remain forever unmovable.
