Book Review: CAPTURED by Jasinda and Jack Wilder

Genre: New Adult/Military
Publication Date: August 12, 2014

You go into combat, you fear death. It's what keeps you careful, keeps you alive. I've faced death more times than I can count. I've taken bullets. I've taken lives.

But nothing can prepare me for the soul-crushing terror of being captured.

I married a Marine. I knew the risks. Every time my husband shipped out, I knew there was a chance he wouldn't come back. But Thomas always did. Always. Then one day two officers in full dress uniform knocked on my door and shattered my world.

How do you keep going when you lose what made life worth living?

I love Jasinda's books, they're always exactly what I'm looking for in a romance story: absorbing, passionate, emotional, and with unique plots. Well, this time though I felt in my heart that she and her husband Jack went far and beyond my expectations for a captivating story because all my emotions were elevated to whole new level with Captured

This book was pure emotions. Emotions that still strongly grip me as write this review because I can't stop replaying this beautiful story in my head. Heartbreaking emotions that made me sobbed constantly for characters that go through so so much. And uplifting emotions that captured my heart completely as this story showed me the amazing endurance of love, hope, and second chances.

"You captured me, and my life changed again. For better this time."

Yes, this is a second chance romance about finding love when least expected but also when most needed. Reagan, a military wife, is the heroine and she was incredible. Such a strong woman, a complete fighter until the end. I admired her for bearing so much anguish, guilt, and fear yet deep inside she never lost hope. I could only imagine how hard is to be a military wife like her and having to live in constant fear of losing the love of your life in the war. Sadly, that's a fear Reagan knew very well and this story shows all the sides of that fear and how she fights and conquers it.

"You have to believe that I can and will love you, and be there for you, and be what you need, no matter how scary things get."

To keep this review completely spoiler free I'm going to abstain from mentioning the hero's name. I think that would keep the mystery and it's so much better to go into this book blindly for a more exciting experience. I will say this though, the hero in this story is an absolute HERO. I loved everything about him; his bravery, loyalty, trepidations, and struggles touched me deeply. He never took anything for granted and struggled with feeling worthy of his blessings. And what a huge heart he had! Always wishing and wanting others to be happy before him even when that meant sacrificing himself... just a true remarkable hero.

"I still want to live. I have to now, because I made a promise."

How I loved this book, I loved everything about it. I loved the tears it gave me, the big admiration that grew in me for the characters, the tingles I got on my skin due to the exquisite and fiery chemistry between the characters, and the heartwarming healing-love that transpired through out the story. But mostly I loved it for the hopeful and stunning message it left me with. A message about never giving up no matter the adversities because as long as there's love anything can be survived.♥

"The stars are bright and numberless. If I could see them, they gave me hope."

Another MUST read by Jasinda! You will fall hard in love with this unforgettable story for sure!
This is a standalone sequel of Wounded and both books can be read independently; however, Wounded is another amazing must read that I so very much recommend so if you can read that one first, you'll enjoy Captured even more but you don't have to! ;)
