5 SURRENDER TO THE LOVE-STORM STARS!
I'm a big fan of Nina Lane since reading the Spiral of Bliss series. That series is breathtaking and one of my all-time favorites so when I found out about Break the Sky I was beyond excited to read it since this story is linked to the series even though it's a standalone. Well, I'm happy to say that I've just found another reason to adore Nina's writing even more now because Break the Sky was simply outstanding! Loved it, loved it!!
This book is the story of Archer West (Dean's brother from Spiral of Bliss) and Kelsey March (Dean and Livy's best friend). It's a story about when opposites attract, two individuals from two different worlds colliding in passion and desire for each other, and a story about surrendering to the storm of an impending love. . .♥
Archer is an irresistible manly bad boy. In his motorcycle, with his body covered in tattoos, and that confidence about himself make him absolutely alluring. The moment Kelsey sets eyes on him she's enchanted with desire even though it's obvious to her that a man like him could only mean trouble but she just can't resist the strong pull and neither does Archer.
"I could feel the power radiating from him, could sense a purely male appraisal of me raking through his mind. My skin tingled."However, as much as these two feel the burning and desire they don't get cozy right away. The fact that Archer is Dean's brother becomes a deterrent for Kelsey. Moreover, the differences between them are too much to ignore because Kelsey is a meteorology professor and Archer is just a "fuck-up" in the eyes of many. But their intense attraction is undeniable and almost unstoppable so they start an affair with no strings attached or expectations. An affair that was meant to be only temporary. The amazing and funny part of that arrangement is that neither of them wants to release control so to get the upper hand, Archer has to be more than persuasive.
“Do you ever let go, storm girl?” he asked. “Ever lose control? Ever surrender?” “Never,” I whispered. “I never surrender.” A smile of both promise and warning curved his beautiful mouth. “You will.”But within their scorching passion, Kelsey and Archer connect at another level and find a place where they could finally be themselves. So they share secrets, fears, and doubts making their arrangement a little more complicated. Even in the turmoil of emotions and confusion their vulnerability and struggles were really touching. I loved their whole journey; how they start to see everything clearly, how they rediscover themselves, and how their need for each other becomes their everything. Just letting go and surrendering, it was beautiful.
“This time I wanted to be caught. By him. I wanted him to fight for me, pursue me, want me, and capture me.”I adored these two together! I saw fireworks every time their passion unfolded and I got chills every time Archer spoke with his crude and seductive words. I loved how their differences never actually seemed to matter because they were more alike, compatible, and connected than they ever thought possible. And that's the beauty of this story I felt, how love made them see beyond what everybody else saw and made them really appreciate all the good and bad within them.
This story was also all about second chances and finally having that reason to turn their lives around and fight for what was really important. It was both beautiful and inspiring to see Archer prove himself and feel worthy and Kelsey let go of her fears to pursuit her real dreams.
How I missed my Professor Dean West!! I got see him and Livy once again in this story and I loved how things were going for them. They were a big part in Break the Sky since there was always tension between Dean in Archer which is addressed now in this book. I really liked how Nina made these two strong and hardheaded men get along and fix their relationship and in doing so they cracked me up a few times with their awkwardness and brotherly banters.“You’re the only person who’s ever made me believe I can prove myself one day too.”
“You don’t need to prove yourself, Archer,” I said, my voice ragged. “You just are.”
I really loved this book so to me this was another winner by Nina Lane. I get more addicted to her writing the more I read her books because her stories are always so compelling, sophisticated, humorous, magical, and so very sensual. Exactly everything I look for in a romance and much more!
“You are, kotyenok moy.”Break the Sky can be read as a standalone but if you haven't read the Spiral of Bliss series I would really encourage you to read it first. It's just a series that everybody should read and fall in love with!♥
“After I kiss, bite, and lick you. After I fuck you deep. After I make you come so hard you scream my name. After I make you lose control. That’s my definition of finish.”
“This time I wanted to be caught. By him. I wanted him to fight for me, pursue me, want me, and capture me.”
“Do you ever let go, storm girl?” he asked. “Ever lose control? Ever surrender?”
“Never,” I whispered. “I never surrender.”
A smile of both promise and warning curved his beautiful mouth.
“This was Archer West, a man who had crashed into my life like a lightning bolt and set it afire.”
“Don’t be scared, storm girl,” he said. “I’ll protect you.”
“You are, kotyenok moy.”
