Spotlight: EMMA CHASE - Interview & Giveaway

Emma Chase
Author of the Tangled series

Here's one of my very favorite authors, Emma Chase! I fell in love with her writing when I read Tangled and met the one and only Drew Evans. After reading his fabulous story I remember describing Drew as a know-it-all-hot-playboy-bastard and I loved him for being just that and more...♥ But back to Emma! Here are her answers to my three little questions:

#1 - As readers we get very attached to characters so it’s sad when we finish their stories. Now, I can imagine that for a writer it is even harder to finish writing a story knowing that’s the end for the characters. How do you transition from finishing a novel/series to starting a new one?

I loved Emma's answer here! She told me that there's never an ending in her stories for her. Even after finishing a book or when she finishes the whole Tangled series she will always have Drew and Kate creating stories in her head. So even if those stories never get published she will always have them so there's no ending for them.

#2 - One popular component in romance books is sex scenes so I wonder… When writing, how do you decide how much sex to put in your stories? Or do you mostly follow your genre (YA, NA, Erotic Romance, Erotica, etc.)?

For Emma sex scenes have to be meaningful and serve a purpose in her books. When they do they are easy to write for her as they become just one more way to express connections, attraction, and love between her characters.

#3 - Do you consider yourself a romance genre writer or a writer who uses love stories to explore a wide range of themes?

Emma likes to explore other themes with her stories. When she wrote Tangled she thought of the story as a comedy first but then it evolved into a romantic comedy. And what a romantic comedy it was, one amazing book for sure!

More About Emma:
By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother who resides in a small town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
