Spotlight: CORA CARMACK - Interview & Giveaway

Cora Carmack
Author of the Losing It series

I met Cora at another book signing last year and she was so nice that I loved to see her again at the DC Author Event. I had a lot of fun asking her my three little questions and here's what she told me during our interview:

#1 - As readers we get very attached to characters so it’s sad when we finish their stories. Now, I can imagine that for a writer it is even harder to finish writing a story knowing that’s the end for the characters. How do you transition from finishing a novel/series to starting a new one?

Cora said that she's always eager to start writing new stories. So when she finishes a book and it's time to start a new one she's more than ready and happy to take on that task.

#2 - One popular component in romance books is sex scenes so I wonder… When writing, how do you decide how much sex to put in your stories? Or do you mostly follow your genre (YA, NA, Erotic Romance, Erotica, etc.)?

In Cora's books sex scenes have to have a purpose. Not all her stories will have them and/or the same amount of description because every story is different. The characters and the type of plot will guide her on deciding what feels right to write.

#3 - Do you consider yourself a romance genre writer or a writer who uses love stories to explore a wide range of themes?

Cora considers herself a New Adult writer first and then a Romance writer second. She loves writing about characters in their twenties and what life is like during those years.

More About Cora:
I'm Cora Carmack,  a twenty-something writer who likes to write about twenty-something characters. I've done a multitude of things in my life-- boring jobs (like working retail), Fun jobs (like working in a theatre), stressful jobs (like teaching), and dream jobs (like writing). I enjoy placing my characters in the most awkward situations possible, and then trying to help them get a boyfriend out of it. Awkward people need love, too.  I'm a New York Times and USA Today bestseller... and a nerd (mostly the nerd part).

Cora's Books:

ALL LINED UP (Rusk University #1)

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.

Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.
