Spotlight: ABBI GLINES - Interview & Giveaway

Abbi Glines
Author of the Rosemary Beach series

Today's I'm spotlighting the one and only Abbi Glines! Abbi is one of my favorite authors and meeting her at the DC Author Event was a pleasure and dream come true for me. I fell in love with her writing and her books when I read Fallen Too Far and met the incredible Rush Finlay. Yes, since then I have Rush Crush like many of her readers. I've read all books in her Rosemary Beach series and I adore every one of them.♥

At the event, Abbi was the sweetest. She had one of the busiest tables as everybody wanted to meet her, get their books signed, and take a picture with her. She was just so sweet with all her readers that her love for what she does really showed. Now, Abbi was even sweeter when answering my three little questions:

#1 - As readers we get very attached to characters so it’s sad when we finish their stories. Now, I can imagine that for a writer it is even harder to finish writing a story knowing that’s the end for the characters. How do you transition from finishing a novel/series to starting a new one?

Abbi doesn't find it too hard to move on from finishing a book or series to starting a new one. She said it's a little sad yes, but the excitement of starting something new and creating new characters really gets her mind away from being sad.

#2 - One popular component in romance books is sex scenes so I wonder… When writing, how do you decide how much sex to put in your stories? Or do you mostly follow your genre (YA, NA, Erotic Romance, Erotica, etc.)?

Abbi's answer here surprised me. She said that it's very difficult for her to write sex scenes in her stories. Now, that surprised me because most of Abbi's books tend to have really incredible steamy scenes. So how does she do it? Well, she said that she usually finishes her stories mostly without any sex in them at first and later during the editing process her editor would suggest if more hot scenes should be included. She then has to go back and add/create those passionate moments that her readers love so much from her stories.

#3 - Do you consider yourself a romance genre writer or a writer who uses love stories to explore a wide range of themes?

Abbi is a romance genre writer at heart. She just loves the romance in stories so her passion is to create love stories with twists, problems, and conflicts that raise the hearts of her readers with all the the romance she so much loves. And let me tell you, she does an amazing job doing it!

RUSH TOO FAR (Rosemary Beach #1.5)

Fallen Too Far was Blaire's story. Now it's time for Rush to share his side.

Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn’t.
