Book Review: CONNECTED by Kim Karr

Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Publication Date: May 7, 2013

What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ could happen twice?

Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in her world. But, when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.

When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into Dahlia’s life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her soulmate.

Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones begin, Dahlia's grief begins to lift--but guilt remains. River wants to be the one to mend all that is torn within her.

But with a past that is never really gone, can their future survive?

Oh wow, where do I start?... Amazing. Breathtaking. Romantic. Shocking. Those are just a few words to describe this outstanding book. But one of my favorite words is BEAUTIFUL. Yes, this book was just beautiful!❤️

This is a story about soulmates and intense connections. Dahlia first found her first soulmate in Ben. He was her forever boyfriend, the only one she could ever see herself with, and the one that was shockingly taken away from her making her world collapsed.

Brokenhearted and lost, Dahlia tries to make it by. But it's until a couple of years later when she meets River again that hope and feelings from their one chance meeting come to resurface. When they met that first time five years ago their connection was like nothing they ever felt before. There was an incredible attraction and something so magical and perfect between them that kept pulling them together. But before anything could happen Dahlia left because back then she was Ben's. Five years later they meet again and their connection is still there, so strong and palpable. The problem now is that Dahlia is still mourning her loss and struggles to let go of her past in order to give her future a second chance at love.

I loved Dahlia and felt in my heart everything she went through. Her times of sadness were really heartbreaking and all I wanted while reading was for her to be whole and happy again because she so deserved it. But losing a loved one is the hardest thing and the recovery is even harder. How do you overcome such pain? How do you move on? Well, Dahlia lives those hard questions in an intense emotional journey to heal her heart.

My favorite thing about this book has to be River Wilde. Wow, I fell in love him! This man was the epitome of romance. A romantic rockstar, how perfect! ❤️ His devotion and love for Dahlia was so beautiful to read and experience. He respected her past and the pain that came with it and gave her the time to heal. He was her angel, her savior, her true soulmate. He transforms her life and brings the light back to her world. He was just the perfect hero and more. Oh yes, and he was gorgeous and Dahlia knew that very well. ;)

Again this story is about falling in love again but also about losing a loved one. The book shows flashbacks from Dahlia's time with Ben and those moments were beautiful and precious to the story. I loved learning about their time together because it made me understand Dahlia's pain that much more. Also, those moments made me see Ben for who he was and I liked him a lot. He plays such an important part into this story that it's impossible not to love him too.

Now the shocking part of this whole story is the ending. OMG, that ending just blew my mind completely! I didn't expect the story to have such an unexpected twist. I was definitely left excited and anxious for more. The ending can be called a cliffhanger but I see it more like a boost of excitement to prepare you for what's to come in the next book in the series. That's right, after reading this book you cannot stop yourself from starting Torn right away!

Dahlia's journey from love to healing to falling in love again was an amazing one and it was all due to the incredible writing in this book. I don't think I could have known Dahlia better, felt any more what she went through, and fell any harder in love with River through her eyes. I mean, the detailed description in this book is captivating because to me it put Dahlia's heart wide open for readers to feel every single emotion she felt. Kim Karr really takes her time in every scene and at every chapter to portray true emotions at their best and I just loved that about this book.

Again, this was a beautiful story. A story filled with true romance, heartfelt conflict, and unique twists that will make your jaw drop and get your heart racing. I. LOVED. IT!! ❤️
