Book Review: AWAKEN by Nina Lane - Giveaway

“I love that you love me, professor.”
“I love loving you, beauty.”

Since their intense, passionate beginning, Professor Dean West and his wife Olivia have fought dark secrets and betrayal in order to save their marriage. Now reeling in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Liv and Dean are driven further apart by a vindictive threat to Dean’s career.

Struggling to stand on her own for the first time in years, Liv is determined to defend her husband and prove herself. Then an unexpected letter dredges up old insecurities and endangers Liv’s newfound independence. As Dean fights for his professional life, he is forced to confront his worst fear when he discovers that he can’t protect his beloved wife from her own painful past.

There's no love like Liv and Dean's!!!! Amazingly beautiful!!

This book, this series, this whole story has been exceptional for me in every possible way. Liv and Dean captivated my heart completely and knowing this was going to be their last chapter I was wishing badly it would be beyond amazing...AND IT WAS!!! This was perfection, the most perfect conclusion to an unforgettable love story that will forever stay in my heart!

In Allure I was left feeling emotional and hopeful. Liv and Dean had gone through really tough challenges but it was their intense love for each that always kept them afloat. Now in Awaken, they battle one last challenge that threaten their security and plans for the future. Consequently, they're forced to take painful decisions to protect each other from even more danger. Through out these difficult times both Liv and Dean start to understand things, learn to confront their fears, and become stronger individually.

It was fascinating to see these two characters that are so dear to my heart be transformed into fearless defenders of each other's love. Yes, they've always been protective of each other but in this book many things click into place for Liv and Dean as all the puzzle pieces finally make sense.

Liv makes the biggest switch and I couldn't be more proud of her. From the vulnerable and sometimes defenseless wife, she transformed into a real fighter. She confronts her fears and individuals from her past that used to drag her down and doubt herself. But not anymore, she learns to put all that behind her and move forward with the love of her life.

Regarding Dean, Liv got herself another medal from me for best wife. It's incredible her love for that man, her support, understanding, and unconditional faith. I totally love her for loving Dean in such a perfect way and for always knowing exactly what he needed every single time. Liv was simply Dean's perfect other half.♥

Now, the beautiful Professor Dean West has struggled with the need to always protect his wife. In Awaken he learns to let go of his fears and lets Liv spread her wings and fly on her own. That reminds me of this Dean quote: "Do I love my wife too much?" Wow, what a man... That's Dean questioning himself and trying to figure out what's best for his wife. Eventually at the perfect time he not only figures it out but embraces the new knowledge of how to love his wife even more deeply and unconditionally.

Dean is a character out of this world. He was absolutely breathtaking and he couldn't have stolen my heart any more times than the hundreds he already did. Really, I've never read about a love like his, so freaking intense, passionate, unconditional, beautiful, and perfect. His wife was his world, his reason for living, and his only way of happiness. My heart melt and I cried several times by just seeing him communicating his love to Liv, seeing how crazy in love he was with her, and seeing him always doing more and more to make her happier. There's simply no other character like Dean and his unique way to love an cherish his wife. No question that he has won himself a very special spot in my favorite list of book boyfriends! ;)

The ending was pure perfection. Everything turned out the way it supposed to be and Liv and Dean got the most beautiful happily ever after there is. One part of me is sad to say goodbye to these wonderful characters that I love so much but with an ending like this one I couldn't be happier for them. I'm happy that everything they went through only made their love for each other even stronger and unbreakable. Their story is an unforgettable one.

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone in a heartbeat. It's so emotionally intense, fire burning passionate, and beautiful like anything I've read before. Nina Lane is an extraordinary writer and with her words she will take you on a remarkable journey of a perfect love with two amazing imperfect characters that couldn't be more crazy in love about each other. A total romance beauty!♥

A place of infinite love, persistence, tenderness, passion, acceptance, and forgiveness. A place where wishes are granted, dreams come true, and stories have happy endings—not because of fate or magic, but because we love each other so hard and so well.”

  1. Nancy, WOW! I can't thank you enough for your wonderful, perceptive reviews of all three books and for participating in the blog tour. I'm so pleased that you loved Liv and Dean's story, and your graphics are beautiful (AND you picked some of my favorite quotes!). I'm also happy that you appreciated Liv's growth and strength as she becomes the woman she's always hoped to be, as that was one of the things I'd wanted to convey from the very beginning. And of course I love that you love Dean! I do have a thing for sexy professors. :-)
